It has been 4 months since I last wrote. If you have been following, you might recall me unleashing my mind in question form in my last post. These are the questions I asked: I ask God why? What will become of those loved ones? Why this big change? What do you have in store for me? What are the significant changes you will require of my family? Am I strong enough to handle it? Do I continue serving my neighbors around me as we did in California? Or, will this be a season to focus on our walks in Christ as a family? Is that being selfish? Will we be tempted in the desert? Or can I walk on water with my God?
Let's see how I can answer what I have I have learned so far. The reason why He moved us was that God said, "I need you to and want you to!" What will become of my loved ones I asked? "They will be just fine, they will and are okay." I have to learn to entrust them into God's care. I asked why this significant change? God said, "I have plans for you!" I asked what he had in store for us? God said, "I am going to help you build from the ground up Portland's Safe Families for Children (http://www.safe-families.org/)!" The most significant changes for my family has consisted of my children going to a local public charter school, and me volunteering at Safe Families and not having the support of my 7 other children in California ( V, A, B, S, J, D, A).
Also, attending a Church utterly different from what we were used to, and different from what we like. I asked God can we handle it? God said, "NO you can not handle it on your own Tee. But you don't need to, because I will be right there with you. Walking with you, protecting you, guiding you and loving you." I asked God do I continue serving my neighbors and was that helping the neighbors right next door? "Yes." He replied, "In a time that will come, but right now it's serving everyone I see and meet with God's love!" I asked God was this move for us to focus on our walk as a family? God said, "Every time and in every season of our life is the best time to focus on our walks with Christ!" Christ is in all things, who we are, how we act, how we behave, how we talk with others, how we serve others. There is no being selfish when you are continually growing in Christ. As God's work is never done, until the day we are in Heaven. He is preparing us for our final destination. Of course! I will be tempted not to but, being tempted isn't always what it seems. God will prevail! I will walk on water with my Jesus. I have faith! God knows what's best for me!
If you're in need of answers and not sure who you are, or where God is in your life. I have some maps for you! The first significant thing you can do is... Pray! I know it sounds so cliche, but it's true. God already knows what your feeling he's waiting for you to verbalize it. Next, read your Bible!!! 1 verse every day is all it takes to start off. I am in the process of reading the bible backward, I started with Revelation and will finish in Genesis! If none of those items above sound like something you cant do, I totally understand because I have been there. Ask a friend for accountability, ask a friend who can pray with you. If there is no one who can do that, ask me. I will pray for you. You can send me a message on here or on Facebook. If you still can't rely on the people God has placed in your life and you feel you need to self-help, then please check out these books: "Becoming Myself: Embracing God's God's Dream of You, by Stasi Eldredge." Also check out, "A Praying Life, by Paul Miller." These books are amazing!
Right now I guess I'm learning God is Beautiful. He is Truth, He is Beauty, He gave Himself to us! I think the best way to share that with others is to live it! Live Truthfully, I will be my true self to everyone. Don't live to please others, live to please God.
Please check in for more post at a later time. God is still writing our story!
